Google Launches Gemini 4 Carbon, a Powerful AI Model Focused on Cybersecurity and Advanced Coding

Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon on October 28, 2026, introducing a new frontier AI model designed for complex software engineering, advanced coding and cybersecurity defence. The launch strengthens Google’s position in the competitive AI market, where companies are racing to build models capable of handling increasingly demanding technical tasks.

Gemini 4 Carbon Delivers Advanced Cybersecurity Capabilities

One of the model’s key features is its ability to help cybersecurity teams identify software vulnerabilities, validate security risks and develop code fixes. Google reports that Gemini 4 Carbon achieved 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro, a benchmark for discovering vulnerabilities, and 71% on CWE-bench, which evaluates software vulnerability remediation. The company also says the model generates secure code with more than twice the success rate of its predecessor, Gemini 4 Argon, on internal benchmarks.

These capabilities could help security professionals detect weaknesses earlier and improve software protection. However, the model’s cybersecurity performance does not eliminate the need for human review and appropriate security safeguards.

Improved Coding and Complex Engineering Tasks

Gemini 4 Carbon is designed to handle long-running, multi-step engineering workflows. According to Google, it can work through complex problems over extended periods, including tracing subtle bugs and developing fixes across large codebases.

The company also reports improvements in scientific tasks, full-stack web development, agentic coding and multimodal understanding. On WebDev Arena, Carbon gained 89 Elo points, reaching a reported score of 1,768 and fourth place.

Availability and Pricing of Gemini 4 Carbon

Google is taking a cautious approach to the rollout. Initial access is being provided to selected cybersecurity defenders through its Fairwind Program, with broader availability planned for developers, businesses and consumers after further testing.
